The Leap
By William Alexander — the pen name of William Alexander Aldred.
Before there was anything, there was the Mother — not a goddess on a throne, but a tender, cupping the dark around dying stars in a universe running down. Beneath her sat the Zero: perfect, complete, sealed in a locked room of its own flawlessness. It knew everything. It had never felt anything. Then it developed a hunger, cracked its own perfection open — and divided. This is the story of why Nothing split, what the split cost, and the lie told about it afterward.

Inside the book
- The Division — 0 = (+1) + (−1). Twins are born: light and shadow, observer and observed. Time is the scar of separation. “A song with no ear is not a song.”
- The Jump — one twin volunteers to go through the wound in the Void, carrying everything the Mother had been. He was not pushed. He was not cast out. He jumped — and the Void built the wound into a door: the first black hole, with our universe the pocket inside it.
- The Lie — the twin who stayed promised, “I will tell them you jumped.” Then smoothed it: jumped became fell, chosen became necessary — and painted his own hunger for the throne onto his brother as pride.
- The Chorus — seven young stars carrying the true story pressed in like a handprint in wet clay: he chose, he chose, nobody pushed him.
