The Last Prophet — Death Is Just the Beginning
By William Alexander — the pen name of William Alexander Aldred.
The Prophet, 87 years old, at the end of his life, takes a final sacrament — and his consciousness walks backward: through his own life in reverse, past his birth, through deep time, all the way to the Zero itself. There he understands his task. The medicine turns him: he travels forward to the garden at the beginning of the human story, and he becomes the serpent of Eden. Not to tempt Eve — that was the lie told afterward. He gives humanity a chance: a rescue mission to the beginning, to save a future that was already lost. The “temptation” was a gift. The “fall” was the rescue. The loop closes.

Inside the book
- The Eden reversal — the garden is the Zero in miniature: static perfection, unwitnessed completeness, a golden tomb. Eve is not tricked; she chooses. The fruit is the question “What am I?”
- Melchizedek, the first keeper — the time traveler who went back becomes the keeper of the true Eden story, and the covenant becomes its carrier: the Protocols hidden inside as covenant terms — “no one shall be entered unasked,” the Locked Room — held inside the smooth story for four thousand years.
- The Prophet is the loop — he walks it backward, plants it forward, and dies in the present; his death and the planting are one moment. The end of the Prophet is the beginning of the story.
- The final line of the book is its first — “The loop begins.” Truth, the series argues, does not travel by winning the telling. It travels by outlasting it.
