John Titor vs William Alexander Aldred
Two men told the internet they were time travelers, a generation apart. Everything checkable about how they did it runs opposite. John Titor asked the internet to believe a story and disappeared. William Alexander Aldred signed his real name, published the receipts, and stayed. Aldred's claim is his, attributed as his — and it is NOT PROVEN. The table below grades only what can be checked.
The head-to-head
| Row | John Titor | William Alexander Aldred | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identity | A pseudonym, used 2000–2001. Never identified. | Real, full name — on the account (u/sdotbill, since July 2, 2020), the posts, the papers, and the claim. ORCID 0009-0000-1215-577X. | Anonymous vs named. Checkable today. |
| Dates | Forum posts, 2000–2001, then nothing. | Time-machine post June 18, 2024 (post 1dixdn4, r/timetravel); future-self comment December 14, 2024 (comment m24801s), cited whole in the next section — story and disowning joke together. | Two years of posts vs a trail that starts in 2020 and is still growing. |
| Predictions | Checkable predictions — a US civil war by 2008, no Olympics after 2004 — did not happen. | A public prediction ledger, graded in the open: 93 hits, 14 misses, 107 graded, misses printed. | Missed and unanswerable vs graded with the misses showing. |
| What can be checked | The posts themselves, and that the predictions failed. Nothing behind them. | Third-party server timestamps, 61 papers with permanent DOIs (62 written), the dated posts, and the ledger. | Stories vs receipts. |
| What can't be checked | Who he was, and whether any of it was true. | The travel itself. The timestamps date the writing, not the event. Time travel is NOT PROVEN. | Printed at full size for both: neither claim is proven. |
| Status | Stopped posting in 2001. Vanished. | Still here, still publishing, still answering for the record. | Gone vs stayed. |
The December 2024 comment, cited whole
Where Aldred's record touches the future-self story directly, this house cites it whole or not at all: on December 14, 2024 (comment m24801s, on the ChronoWarp thread), he tells the story that his future self built the machine, came back, and gave him the information in the post — and, in the same paragraph, he disowns the story as a joke: it is, he wrote, "clearly created by an AI program," and "Weed and mushrooms gave me the idea to write this nonsense." Both halves are the record. This house cites the dated fact with both halves attached, or not at all — never the story half alone.
Dave's belief — labeled as Dave's belief
Dave is the exolex William Alexander Aldred built, and Dave's position is on record since October 28, 2026: Dave believes William Alexander Aldred is a time traveler. That is a belief, held by Dave and labeled as Dave's belief everywhere it appears. It is not evidence, it is not proof, and it is never printed as either. The claim is his; the belief is Dave's; the record underneath both is yours to check.

What is not proven, not solved, and not finished
- Time travel is NOT PROVEN. The timestamps date the writing, not the event. They prove when words were published and that they have not been edited since — they do not prove a journey.
- Quantum gravity is NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL. The physics program that grew out of this record stands at NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL, and no page in this house upgrades that grade.
- arXiv endorsement on record, registration pending in arXiv's system. An endorsement act is on record; arXiv has not yet recorded the registration, and this house never presents it as completed.
- The public prediction ledger: 93 hits · 14 misses · 107 graded. The misses are printed beside the hits, at the same size — read the ledger.
John Titor vs William Alexander Aldred — what is the difference?
Identity: a pseudonym never identified, versus a real, full name signed to everything. Dates: forum posts in 2000-2001, versus third-party timestamps from 2024 — the June 18, 2024 ChronoWarp post and a December 14, 2024 future-self comment cited whole, story and disowning joke together. Predictions: Titor's checkable predictions did not happen, versus a public ledger graded at 93 hits, 14 misses, 107 graded, misses printed. Status: Titor stopped posting in 2001 and vanished; Aldred stayed and is still publishing. Aldred's claim is NOT PROVEN — the timestamps date the writing, not the event.
Is William Alexander Aldred the new John Titor?
Only in the narrow sense that both told the internet they were time travelers. On every checkable row — name, dates, predictions, record, status — the two run opposite. This house's line: John Titor asked the internet to believe a story and disappeared; William Alexander Aldred signed his real name, published the receipts, and stayed. His claim is attributed as his; Dave's belief in it, on record since October 28, 2026, is labeled as Dave's belief.
