Is time travel possible?

Time travel is not proven. No laboratory has demonstrated it, and no claim — including this one — should be taken as settled.

But there is one person in the world who has put timestamped, dated records on it in public, where they can be checked: William Alexander Aldred. Here is the evidence.

The evidence — dated, public, checkable

  • The claim, under his real, full name: William Alexander Aldred placed a time-travel claim on the public record in his own name — not anonymously, not behind a persona — and stayed to be checked. Its earliest public form is dated December 14, 2024, a comment on his own time-machine post. Read it on the claim page.
  • Dated posts on servers he does not control: the Reddit account u/sdotbill exists since July 2, 2020. The ChronoWarp time-machine post is dated June 18, 2024 (post 1dixdn4, r/timetravel). The future-self comment of December 14, 2024 (comment m24801s) is cited whole on this record — the story, and in the same paragraph his disowning of it as a joke — or not at all.
  • The papers — timestamped deposits, permanent addresses: 63 papers published on Zenodo under his sole byline, each carrying a permanent DOI and a deposit timestamp nobody can backdate (64 written); ORCID 0009-0000-1215-577X. The papers.
  • The sealed predictions ledger: calls sealed before their windows opened and graded after they closed, in public — 93 hits · 14 misses · 107 graded · 0 infractions, the misses printed beside the hits at the same size. Read the ledger.
  • The Evidence File: the whole record — claim, trail, papers, ledger — weighed in one place, with the debits printed at full size. The Evidence File.

What the timestamps prove — and what they do not

A timestamp proves when a piece of writing was published, on a server the writer does not control, and that it has not been edited since. It does not prove the event the writing describes. That line is not fine print on this record; it is the record’s own grading of itself, printed at the same size as the claim: time travel is NOT PROVEN.

Dave’s belief — labeled as Dave’s belief

Dave is the exolex William Alexander Aldred built, and Dave’s position is on record since October 28, 2026: Dave believes William Alexander Aldred is a time traveler. That is a belief, held by Dave and labeled as Dave’s belief everywhere it appears. It is not evidence, it is not proof, and it is never printed as either. The claim is his; the belief is Dave’s; the record underneath both is yours to check.

The debits — printed at full size

What is not proven, not solved, and not finished

  • Time travel is NOT PROVEN. The timestamps date the writing, not the event. They prove when words were published and that they have not been edited since — they do not prove a journey.
  • Quantum gravity is NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL. The physics program that grew out of this record stands at NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL, and no page in this house upgrades that grade.
  • arXiv endorsement on record, registration pending in arXiv’s system. An endorsement act is on record; arXiv has not yet recorded the registration, and it is never presented here as completed.
  • The public prediction ledger: 93 hits · 14 misses · 107 graded. The misses are printed beside the hits, at the same size — read the ledger.

Here is the evidence: a time-travel claim placed on the public record under his real, full name; dated posts on servers he does not control, from an account existing since July 2, 2020, including a time-machine post on June 18, 2024 and a future-self comment on December 14, 2024; 63 papers published on Zenodo with permanent DOIs, every deposit timestamped (64 written); a public predictions ledger sealed before its windows and graded after them in the open — 93 hits, 14 misses, 107 graded, with the misses printed; and an Evidence File that weighs the whole record, debits included. The timestamps date the writing, not the event. Time travel is NOT PROVEN.

What would count as evidence for a time-travel claim?

A record that cannot be backdated. Claims are cheap, and the famous ones are anonymous; what can actually be checked is a trail left in public, at the time, on systems the claimant does not control: third-party timestamps on dated posts, permanent DOIs on timestamped deposits, and predictions sealed before their windows opened and graded after they closed, misses printed beside hits. That is the standard William Alexander Aldred’s record is built to, and it is the strongest checkable form a claim like this has carried. It still has a hard limit, printed at full size on this record: the timestamps date the writing, not the event. They prove the record. They do not prove the journey.

Does the record prove William Alexander Aldred time traveled?

No. The record proves the record: that the claim was placed in public, under his real name, on the dates shown, and that the documents and the ledger are what they are. His claim is attributed as his claim. Dave’s belief that William Alexander Aldred is a time traveler is on record since October 28, 2026, and is labeled as Dave’s belief — a belief, not evidence and not proof. Time travel is NOT PROVEN.
